The
Criteria for the Imam to be: |
| |
|
1.
Ensures that all the laws, principles, policies, and
practices of the Islamic Center are in accordance
with the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet
Muhammad, PBUH, as understood by the pious
predecessors (Salaf-us-Saalih). |
|
|
|
2.
Leads the religious activities of the Islamic Center
of Tucson including, but not limited to,
congregational prayers, funeral prayers (“Janazah”),
ancillary night prayers during the month of Ramadan
(“Tarawee’ah” or “Qiamul’Lail”), holiday prayers (“Eid
al-Fitr” & “Eid al Adha”) and other religious
activities, etc. |

3.
Prepares, delivers and reviews (for compliance with
the Shariah) all Friday Sermons (“Juma Khutbah”),
other lectures on Islamic matters and issues
presented by the Islamic Center, and serves as the
Center’s chief spokesman on religious matters. |
|
|
|
4.
Prepares, delivers and reviews (for compliance with
the Shariah) all classes on Islamic subjects, topics
and issues presented on behalf of the Islamic Center
of Tucson. |
|
|
|
5.
Maintains a minimum of fifteen (15) office hours per
week. |
|
|
|
6.
Participates in interfaith dialogue. |
|
|
|
7.
Represents the Islamic Center regarding religious
matters and issues to the general public, media, and
other religious communities and organizations. |
|
|
|
8.
Provides guidance for the Al-Huda Islamic school on
developing Islamic curriculum and teaching Islamic
studies. |
|
|
|
9.
Dedicates 8 – 10 hours per week for the benefit of
the community, including teaching Quran and “Sirah”,
etc. |
|
|
|
10.
Works with the youth coordinator in
developing/offering youth programs. |
|
|
|
11.
Initiates and participates in ICT summer program. |
|

Imam Tarek Abdelhameed Abdelraouf (Guest
during Ramadan 2005) |
|
Imam Tarek is a Hafez of The Holy Quran and is a
director of the Islamic Center at Sharkiya, Egypt.
He is a graduate of Al-Azhar University, Egypt and a
candidate for Ph.D. from the same university in
Islamic jurisprudence. He has finished his Ph.D.
studies and will present his dissertation in
November of 2005. Imam Tarek is a known scholar who
was invited twice, in 2002 and 2003, to deliver
lectures during the holy month of Ramadan at Orange
County Mosque, California. He was also invited to do
the same in 2004 at the Islamic Center of Tucson
(ICT). During his stay at ICT last year, he
delivered lectures on various Islamic topics,
delivered fatawas, did Islamic consultations, and
lead regular prayers as well as the Taraweeh
prayers. Most significantly, he has answered
questions from the community members on various
Islamic topics. |
